Diamonds for Men , like it’s predecessor Diamonds for Women is targeted towards a younger breed of Armani buyer, think young go-getter just about to make it big and you have the sort of vibe that the ad campaign for this scent seems to be trying to evoke. The fragrance itself was formulated by Jacques Cavallier, and fits into the woody-gourmand category. The exact notes that go into it are as follows: bergamot, gaïac, vetiver, cedar wood, cocoa, Szechuan pepper, and ambroxan. The opening space is primarily occupied by the notes of cocoa and sweet vanilla, which work well together and do not come across as overly sweet which is what I feared before trying it on. The weakness of this fragrance is to be found in the middle section where there is not too much development to be found. You get bergamot a little before the true heart of the fragrance and then pepper spicing up the sweets that came before but it seems to race headlong to the close where you find cedarwood and a pale musk. Ultimately it promised more than it can deliver but its saving grace is that the cocoa is discernible all the way through and synergizes quite well with the other closing notes. It ends up being a little too sweet for my tastes but has and will continue to sell well and is perfect for the crowd it aims to cater to
