Hypnôse Homme is the masculine flanker to the earlier released Hypnôse Femme. The fragrance was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel who describes Hypnôse Homme as a scent that is both modern and classic. It contains the following list of notes: bergamot, Calabrian mandarin, mint, Chinese cardamom seed, amber, essence of Provençal lavender, musk, and essence of Indonesian patchouli. Comparing Hypnôse Homme to other fragrances reveals more of a richness and sophistication than than in many other scents. It seems to be more poised and keeps a reassuringly rigid structure from top to base. Hypnôse is understated, seeming to have been developed for a well-composed man who only needs his magnetism to be accentuated rather than handed to him. The fragrance seems to have been developed as a fougere oriental with fougere notes being warmed by the richness and spiciness of oriental scents. It opens very refreshingly and quickly settles into something a little darker, more woody and slightly animalic. The scent gradually warms on the skin making it deliciously sensuous as the day wears on. It is a perfectly constructed fragrance with fresh notes being sweetened and warmed by deeper hints of spice and resins. It also becomes more rugged and daring in the base as the smoky resins and dollops of amber really take hold and transform this understated scent into something of a sensory riot. I love the way this fragrance develops, how it seems so composed, but always as if a lid is being held tightly over something altogether more volatile. It is extremely manly, unbelievably sexy and a real eye-opener to perfumers still contenting themselves with producing very basic generic mens fragrances
